The 1930 Federal Census for Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., North Carolina, District 27, page 181B, dated April 10, 1930 records Benjamin E. [sic] Wortham (73 - NC/NC/VA) and his daughter Francis Wortham (30) living with James E. (47) and Mary (41) Whitfield and their children Phillipe (3 6/12) and Mary (8/12). [Mary is Ben's daughter] James is a House Carpenter while Francis is a Principal at a Public School. Benjamin has no employment.
