Herman S. Sheidy, 89, Wernersville, died Nov. 20 at 3:15 p.m. in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center Inc., Wernersville. He had been a resident at Phoebe Berks Village.
He was the husband of Ruth E. (Gerhart) Sheidy.
Born in Lower Heidelberg Township, he was a son of the late Robert G. and Florence M. (Schaeffer) Sheidy.
Sheidy had been last employed as a billing clerk by Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, retiring in 1980. He previously worked for 23 years as a knitter at Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing.
He was a member of St. John's (Hain's) United Church of Christ, Lower Heidelberg Township, where he served as elder, deacon and longtime Sunday school treasurer. He was also past president and former treasurer of the Hain's Church brotherhood.
Sheidy was a 1931 graduate of West Reading High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Sheidy was a charter member of the Heidelberg Heritage Society, serving on the finance committee.
He was a former South Heidelberg Township auditor.
Sheidy was also a charter member of the Red Oak Hunting Club, Potter County, and served as treasurer.
He is also survived by a son, Richard P., Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, and a daughter, Sally A. (Sheidy) McMahon, Sinking Spring.
Other survivors include a sister, Lyn (Sheidy) Marsh, Shiremanstown, Cumberland County.
There are also seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda J. (Sheidy) Keppley.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's (Hain's) Church. Burial will be in St. John's (Hain's) Church Cemetery. Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville, is in charge of arrangements

Florence married Harry Garfield Hagen, son of Joshua Hagen and Sarah Ellen Reese, on 31 Jul 1951 in Reading, Berks Co., PA.
