Joseph P. Tompkins passed peacefully Monday, November 19, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born September 5, 1940 in Danville, Virginia, Joseph was the son of Artie and Hettie (Price) Tompkins and was a retired pilot with Executive Jet Management of Cincinnati, Ohio. Joseph had lived in Lebanon, Ohio since 1987 coming from Greenville, South Carolina and loved to fly and spend time with his children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Kathryne Adams; Joseph leaves behind his loving wife Jeri (Hansen) Tompkins of Lebanon, Ohio; son Andrew Tompkins of Lebanon, Ohio; daughter Amy (Rob) Latham of Springfield, Ohio; brothers Artie Tompkins of Danville, Virginia and James Tompkins of Marietta, Georgia; sister Angie Greenfield of Hilton Head, South Carolina; five grandchildren and many more family members and friends. Friends may call on the family Friday, November 23, 2012 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00pm with Chaplain Cecelia Sledge officiating.
