Daughtey [his father] on his farm. He makes his mark over a signature: Charles Axum Daughtrey. He is tall and slender with blue eys and dark hair.

The 1930 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nanesmond Co., VA, District 7, page 115A records Charlie Daughtrey (indexed as Dauhtry at ancestry.com) (35) living with his parents Matthew W. (72) and Mary R. (58) Daughtrey. The family is living next door to Charlie's brother, William Jasper Daughtrey, and his family.

Daughtrey dated April 27, 1942 lists his date of birth as July 27 1893 in Nansemond Co., VA. He lives in the Holland Distrcit of Nansemond Co. and his mailing address is Franklin, RFD 1, VA. He lists the person who will always know his address as Mrs. Effie Daughtrey of Franklin, RFD 1, VA. He is self employed and his physical description is 6' 2", 250 lbs with blue eyes, blond hair and light complexion. He signs his name, with apparent difficulty, as Charlie E. Daughtrey. Using the name from the WWI Draft Card and the fact that "E" is used as a middle initial, it appears that his middle name could be "Exum".
