Edward Christopher Akers

As told by Viola Beatrice (Bea) Akers: Christopher Akers was from Callaway, Franklin Co., VA. However, it appears that his name was Edward Chester Akers.

The 1860 Federal Census for South Western District, Franklin Co., Virginia, pages 69 & 70, dated July 26, 1860 records Christpher E. (6) living with his parents Nathaniel (36) and Elizabeth (40) Akers and siblings Sarah E. (10), Emily M. (8), Samuel H. (4), Norborne K. Akers (2 - VA), and Cora L. (1).

The 1900 Federal Census for Blackwater District, Franklin Co., Va., District 21, page 1A records Edward (Sept 1852) and Virginia (Dec 1848) Akers with children Robert E. (May 1881), Peter D. (Dec 1882), Stephen G. (Aug 1884), Edward G. (July 1888), and Emily J. (Feb 1890). Edward and Virginia have been married for 25 years and have had 10 children of which 7 are still living. Also in the household is Edward's widowed mother, Elizabeth Akers (Dec 1817).

The 1910 Federal Census for Blackwater District, Franklin Co., Va., District 30, page 15A, dated May 6, 1910 records Edward C. (57) and Virginia F. (61) Akers with daughter Emmie J. (19) as well as recently married son Stephen G. Akers (25) and his wife of 3 years Mary E. (21) and their son Eugene W. (0/12). Edward and Virginia have been married for 35 years and have had 10 children of which 7 are still living.

Edward married Virginia Franklin Fralin, daughter of Joseph (Josiah) Fralin and Cynthia (Cintha) E. Fralin, circa 1874 in Franklin Co, Va. (Virginia Franklin Fralin was born in Dec 1848 in Virginia and died after 1910 in Franklin Co., VA.)
