AKERS, Valsie Peters, 90, of Rocky Mount, died Friday, August 12, 1994, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Born September 3, 1903, she was the daughter of the late William and Laura Dowdy Peters. She was the wife of the late Peter D. Akers Sr. Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Clara Peters, Bassett, Va.; one sister-in-law, Elsie Peters, Roanoke, Va.; a special friend, Katie Bennett, Rocky Mount, Va.; special nieces and nephews; five stepdaughters, and sons-in-law, Eleanor A. Bowling, Vinton, Va., Thelma A. Montgomery, Boones Mill, Va., Beatrice Akers, Boones Mill, Va., Ruby and Jack Prillaman, Vinton, Va., Merle and Thomas Prillaman, Roanoke, Va.; four stepsons and daughters-in-law, C. W. and Mildred Akers, Rocky Mount, Va., P. D. and Ideal Akers Jr., Rocky Mount, Va., John Herbert and Doris Akers, Culpepper, Va., E.C. and Irene Akers, Roanoke, Va.; several stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 14, 1994, at 2 p.m. at Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church, Callaway, Va. with Elder Junior Connor and Elder Lane Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Lynch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
