The 1900 Federal Census for Burning Fork, Pike Co., Kentucky (ED#86, page 186B) records George (sic) S. Gross (Sept 1877) living in the home of his brother-in-law Euel (sic) Ellis (Oct 1846 - NC/NC/NC). Euel has been married to Margarett [Gross] Ellis (Aug 1856 - KY/VA/KY) for 33 years (sic) [23 years] and they have the following children: Obedire Ellis (Feb 1890) and Cleopas Ellis (Feb 1894). Also in the household is Euel's widowed mother-in-law Margaret Ellis [Gross] (Jan 1840 - KY/KY/KY) and grandchildren Ora Gross (June 1896) and Charley Gross (Jan 1899). Next door is Jarrett (July 1865) and Josephine (March 1870) Gross with children Mary E. (July 1891) and Dallas (Jan 1894). See general notes on his sister Margaret Gross Ellis for 1910 census facts indicating that Ora and Charley Gross are the children of Jarrett Gross, Grigsby's brother as well as the fact that Enik Ellis has died and Margaret is now a widow.

The WWI Draft Registration Card dated Sept 12, 1918 records G. S. Gross date of birth as September 18, 1877. He lives in Pikeville, Kentucky. His physical description is tall and slender with brown eyes and dark hair. He indicates that his nearest relative is Marie Gross who lives in Pikeville, Kentucky.

The 1920 Federal Census for Lower Johns Creek, Pike Co., Kentucky (ED#119, page 249B) records Grig Gross (38 - brother-in-law) living with his sister, Etta Clevenger (58) and her 2nd husband S. P. Clevenger (60). Next door is "Grig's" brother Hezikiah (62) and Hezikiah's wife, Lydia (59) Gross.
