Victor Moreau Holderby was a school teacher in early life, later a farmer and a postmaster in Reidsville, NC. He was the last mayor of Ruffin, NC. During the Civil War, he was a First Lieutenant of the 69th Regiment Rockingham County, 17th Brigade, NC Militia. The Homeplace is still standing near the junctions of NC state roads 2023 and 1767.
