Rite for Mrs. Penn at Mount Vernon this afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. George Rucker Penn who died early yesterday afternoon at Memorial Hospital following a decline in healthduring recent years, will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from the John B. Winn Memorial Chapel at Mount Vernon Church with interment at Green Hill Cemetery.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. V. Booth Jr. on Cherry Lane.
Mrs. Penn, the former Florence Evelyn Toomey, was born in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 13, 1876, the daughter of the late William Richard Toomey and Florence Elder Toomey.
She was graduated from Salem Academy, Winston-Salem, N. C. and later attended finishing school in Baltimore, Md. She was married to the late Mr. Penn in 1899 and had made her home in Danville since then. She was a member of the Mount Vernon Methodist Church and the Gabriella Garden Club.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. B. V. Booth Jr. of Danville; three grandchildren, Mrs. David Crosland of Chapel Hill, N. C., George Rucker Penn II of New York City, and Florence Elder Penn of Danville; and three great grandchildren.
Florence married George Rucker Penn, son of Greenville B. Penn and Catherine Mundy (Kate) Rucker, in 1899.
