(28-DC) and Louisa (25-DC) Clagett with children Eliza (3-VA), Hellen (1-DC), and Maggie (7/12-Oct-DC) in the home of William's father, John B. Clagett (55-DC). Father and son are listed as "Farmers" while Louisa is listed having "Typhoid".

The 1900 United States Federal Census, District of Columbia, Washington, District 48, page 27A records Ella L. Clagett (March 1850-widow) and daughter Gertrude Clagett (March 1886) living at1310 Corcoran Street. Also in the household are daughter Helen McKinney (March 1878) and her husband Charles A. (March 1868) and their children Margaret (Sept 1895) and Samuel (June 1898).

The 1910 United States Federal Census, District of Columbia, Washington, District 215, page 3B records Ella L. Clagett (61-widow) and daughters Helen McKinney and Gertrude Clagett and grand children Margaret, Samuel, and Charles McKinney living at 1804 U Street (NW).

The 1920 United States Federal Census, District of Columbia, Washington, District 274, page 88B records Ella L. Clagett (71-widow) and daughters Helen McKinney (40-widow) and grand children John Brice (10) and Milton D. (6) Kay living at 1804 Vernon Street (U Street has turned into Vernon). Helen is a Government Clerk.

The 1930 United States Federal Census, District of Columbia, Washington, District 307, page 135A records Helen McKinney (52-widow-married at 16) and her daughter Margaret Kay (34-married at 19) with her children Samuel H. (21), and Charles A. (17) McKinney living at 1829 Ingleside Terrace. Helen is a Government Statistician and Margaret is a Secretary in the District Government.

Ella married William Brice Clagett, son of John Brice Clagett and Margaret A. Gunnell. (William Brice Clagett was born circa 1850 in Washington D. C. and died circa 1890 in Washington D. C..)
