The 1860 Federal Census for Franklin Co., Va., North Eastern Division, page 197 records Joseph (40) and Cintha E. F. (34) Fralin with children Virginia F. (11), Sarah E. (10), Mary T. (8) [Mary Tabitha], Josephine (7), John P. D. (5) [Peter], Nancy (3), and Josiah B. (2). Next door is Robert H. Fralin and family ... probably a brother to Joseph.

Drafted in to Company G, 57th Virginia Infantry Regiment on 14 October 1864.

Thje 1870 Federal Census doe s not list Josiah and Cintha Fralin but Josephine is listed with her grandfather David Fralin ().
