A few pages over [page 237A] records John Rigney Jr (32) with his wife Larena (27) [Irena Donley, married on March 6, 1839] and children Levi (10), Henry (9), Townes (6), and William (2). John Jr is a Wheel Wright. John Jr. is living amongst many of the Adkins clan ... Owen, Henry Sr., Henry Jr, Mastin, William Sr., etc ...

The 1860 Federal Census for the North District, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, Callands P. O., page 188, dated July 9, 1860 records John (75) and Anna (76) Rigney with Nathan Rigney (32). John is a farmer with real estate valued at $300 and a personal estate valued at $100. Next door is John Rigney Jr. (39) with children Henry (14) and William S. Rigney (12). John is a Cooper with real estate valued at [no value written] and a personal estate valued at [no value written]. Junior is probably living on dad's property.
