General Notes:
The 1910, 1920, and 1930 Federal Census records the William Heberlig family living along the York/Petersburg Roads outside of Mechanicburg, Pa.
The 1910 census has a Samuel B. (age 36) and May (age 29) Heberlig living next to his brother William and family. The 1910 census also shows another Samuel B. Heberlig of Cumberland Co. He is age 67 (b 1843) and has a wife, Martha (b 1857) and children Florence A. (b 1870) and Sarah B. (b 1876). This Samuel is in the 1880 Cumberland Co. census at age 37 with wife Martha, age 34, and children Anna (age 10), Bertie (age 8), Sarah (age 4). This could well be William's father. If it is, it should be noted that this Samuel can be found in the 1870 Cumberland Co. census, Hopewell Township, living with his father, Samuel (b 1806), and mother, Hannah (b 1807). This Samuel and family are in the 1850 and 1860 Federal Census in Hopewell Township. The 1840 census records him as Samuel Heverling. The 1830 census records him as Samuel Heberling of West Pennsboro, Cumberland Co.
FamilySearch.org has a William L. Heberlig born in 1882, died August 5, 1939 the son of Samuel E. Heberlig and Susan R. Williams. These records indicate Sam and Susan have another child Martin Luther Heberlig born Feb 9, 1881 but I believe this is a transcription error and actually referenced William L. Heberlig. Also listed here is the spouse of William L. Heberlig: Christie Bergner with a marriage date of April 18, 1906. This Samuel (41) and Sue R. (35) Heberling are listed in the 1880 United States Federal Census, Pennsylvania, Cumberland Co., Newton Township (District 84, page 379A) with children Minnie Alice (10), Mulenburg (8), Samuel B. (6), Susan (4), and Mary E. (2)
The 1900 U.S. Census for Dickenson Township, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, ED# 7, page 131B records Samuel (Jan 1838) and Susan R. (Feb 1845) Heberlig with children Minnie A. (Jan 1869), Samuel B. (Dec 1873), Susan W. (July 1875), Mary E. (Mar 1878), William L. (Feb 1881), and Joseph (May 1885).
The 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Middlesex Township, Mechanicsburg Borough, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, ED#25, page 254A records William L. (29) and Christie M. (27) Heberlig with son Paul W. (2).
