The 1910 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA (ED#119, page 20A) dated April 28, 1910 records Emerson Alexander (38) with his wife Bertha (30) and sons Maris (11) and Earl (7). Emerson is emplolyed as a farm laborer and has been married to Bertha for 12 years. They have had 2 children.

Apparently by 1918 Bertha has died because Anna is now listed as the wife of Emerson Alexander:
The WWI Draft Registration Card for John Wesley Alexander dated Sept 12, 1918 records his date of birth as March 7, 1876. He is farming in Mt. Nebo [address - Pequea] and his nearest relative is Anna Alexander. He is medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair.

The 1920 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA (ED#105, page 72A) dated January 13, 1920 records John W. Alexander (36) and his wife Esther M. (30) and children Eva (6), Lester (4 8/12), and Read (1 11/12) farming on River Hill Road. Also in the household are a nephew and niece: Earl Alexander (17) and Naomi Cramer (16). Nearby is John's brother [Benjamin] Emmerson Alexander (42) and his wife Anna L. (25) living near the intersection of Tucquan Road with Mt. Nebo Road.

The 1930 Federal Census for Mt. Nebo Village, Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA (ED#96, page 125A) dated April 16, 1930 records Emmerson Alexander (53) and his wife Anna L. (36) and children Kenneth A. (9), Ralph C. (7), Gilbert E. (6), Cleon B. (4 10/12), Clay D. (2 6/12), and Cloyd G. (2 6/12) living along the Mt. Nebo to Erb Mill Road. Emerson is a farmer and reports being first married at age 39 while Anna at age 22. Emerson has clearly forgotten about his first marriage to Bertha.
