The 1880 Federal Census for Reading, Berks Co., PA, District 41, dated June1, 1880, page 51A records the widow Hannah Ryan (61 - Ireland/Ireland/Ireland) with children Rosa Ryan (27 - PA), Frances Ryan (23), Joanna Ryan (21), and James F. Ryan (18 - PA) living at 331 South 9th Street. Hannah is keeping house, Rosa is a clerk in a shoe store, Frances is a laborer, Joanna is a "Shoe Upper Fitting", and James is a clerk.
