Joseph Haskins

  General Notes:

In an email from Carol Nourse dated February 25, 2011:
... we only knew him as Uncle Gravy, brother of my grandfather, Robert Cecil (Corn) Haskins and took it for granted that Joseph to be his father. Cecil was 3 yrs old before Joseph married Cecil's mother, Henrietta Corn. So Grandad was born as a Corn, then Haskins. Probably nothing in writing about becoming a Haskins. Cecil was the only child Joseph and Henrietta had. Joseph was very reluctant to marry Henrietta, but court action said he had to marry her or pay support. Marry her, he did, but probably never lived with her or paid support. He was a scoundrel in a lot of ways.

Edward Leroy was granddad's half brother. We knew he was Joseph's child, but didn't know the mother. Edward married Timandra Brumfield...no children....then Edward was killed in a skirmish or something (a little mystery we know nothing about), then Cecil (the half brother, married Timandra and produced my line. Edward Leroy was mentioned in William Haskins' will and is in one of the censuses. We have never found a thing about his death ...where or when.

Joseph married Henrietta Corn on 8 May 1875 in Lawrence Co., Ohio. (Henrietta Corn was born on 15 Apr 1851 in Lawrence Co., Ohio, died on 21 Jul 1941 in Lawrence Co., Ohio and was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Lawrence Co., Ohio.)
