Doris Paulsen Adkins, 88, Cleveland, NC
CLEVELAND - Doris Paulsen Adkins, 88, of Cleveland, died at her home on Third Creek Church Road, Monday, May 25, 2009.
Born in Wing River, [Wadena Co.,] Minn., she was the daughter of the late Louis Christian Paulsen and Rose Jakober Paulsen. A graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, she proudly served in the US Marine Corps Women's Reserve during WWII.
Mrs. Adkins retired from the Employment Security Commission as an employment counselor, and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion and a member of the Pilot Club in Marion.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband Eugene "Morrison" Adkins, Jr., January 9, 1998.
Survivors are her two sons, Eugene M. Adkins, III and wife Frankie of Cleveland and Mark R. Adkins of Marion; and two sisters Alice Vane of Minnesota and Murrell Dixon of Wyoming.
Service: Mrs. Adkins will have a private graveside service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to, Third Creek Presbyterian Church, 2055 Third Creek Church Rd., Cleveland, NC 27013.
