Wiles Funeral Held Yesterday
Funeral service for Thomas Clifton Wiles were conducted yesterday at Barker Funeral Home. Burial was in Highland Burial Park.
Mr. Wiles died Friday night at Duke Hospital in Durham, N. C. after having been transferred from Danville Memorial Hospital earlier that day. He was 74.
He was born in Pittsylvania County April 29, 1900, a son of the late Samuel R. and Mary Slaton Wiles.
He was a member of Rock Springs Methodist Church.
On Feb 13, 1923 he was married to the former Lena P. Hagood, who died in 1967. He was a retired Caniber maker.
He is survuive by a sister, Mrs. A. N. Harrell of McLeeansville, and a brother, Harold Wiles of Baltimore, Md.
Thomas married Lena Pearson Hagood, daughter of Augustus Walker Hagood and Susan Julia Anna Evans, on 13 Feb 1923 in Danville City, (Pittsylvania Co.), Virginia. (Lena Pearson Hagood was born on 18 Aug 1899 in Tunstall, Pittsylvania Co., VA, died on 21 May 1967 in Danville City, (Pittsylvania Co.), Virginia and was buried in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.)
