General Notes:
Research Notes:
Roxanna Holland at first appears to be the daughter of John J. and Martha Holland: The 1860 Federal Census for the Upper Parish, Nansemond Co., VA records John J. Holland (41 - VA) with his wife Martha (40 - NC) and children Martha (16 - VA), Mills (15 - VA), Ann (13 - VA), James (10 - VA), Jesse (8 - VA), Sarah (5 - VA), Alice (3 - VA), and Roxanna (1 - VA).
The 1870 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, Suffolk P. O., page 256A records Roxanna Holland (12 - VA) living with Henry (40) and Nancy (30) Journakin [Jernigan] and children James (9), Cornelia (7), and Virginia (3). However, this is not the same Roxanna from the 1860 record above because that family appears in the 1870 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, Suffolk P. O., page 260A as Martha (37 - VA) and children James (19 - VA), Nancy (20 - VA), Jesse (17 - VA), Sarah (14 - VA), Alice (12 - VA), and Roxanna (10 - VA).
