Almost immediately after their marriage, Catharina Schaufele and her husband Adam Benkelmann emigrated to the United States, settling first in Lancaster, Erie County, New York with relatives. This is where there first son was born in September 1851 . They later moved to Bowmansville, Erie County, and then on to Michigan in 1860. I have much more information, photos, obituaries, etc. on my website.
