Rudolph Essick (Essig)

  General Notes:

Rudolph and Mary were the parents of 12 children. They are buried in the old Brandywine Manor Cemetery. Rudolph died August 6, 1815 at 73 years of age. His tombstone has the following verse on it: "Kind Angel watch this sleeping dust, till Jesus comes to raise the Just. Then may he awake in sweet surprise and in his Saviours (sic Savior's) image rise."

Mary died September 21, 1823 aged 75 years. Her tombstone has the following verse on it: "Great God I own Thy sentence just, and nature must decay, I yield my body to dust, and dwell with fallow clay."

Rudolph and Mary (Berger) Essig had 12 children, ( Mary, Michael III, Elizabeth, Rudolph III, John, Catharine, Sarah, Martha, Lydia, George, Jacob and Samuel).

Michael III married Mary Todd in Chester County Pennsylvania. They had a son Rudolph that later married Leah Humble (Hoombl). Among their children was Michael Luther Essick. Later Michaels's mother , Leah (b: 1806-1892) came to live with them. Michael, Mary, and his mother are all buried in the Linn Grove Cemetery, south of Norwalk, Iowa.

Rudolph married Maria Berger on 10 Mar 1767 in Chester Co., PA. (Maria Berger was born on 23 Sep 1741 in Chester Co., PA. and died on 21 Sep 1823 in Brandywine Manor, Chester Co., PA..)
