Tom writes the following about John and Mary Keys: They had 8 Children. He was Lawrence County Comminssioner for 2 terms of 3 years each. He is buried beside his wife, Mary L. Allen Keys in Lawrence County,Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Ohio. Died age 80 years, 11 months and 29 days. He bought the old homestead and farm after his mother (Elizabeth Lambert Waller Keys) died. Lawrence County Record of Deaths Ledger 11-88 Register # 21. "His early education was acquired in the public schools of the county and upon leaving school he went into the milling business at Rock Camp, and then took up farming in Perry Township. He served as treasurer of Perry Township for eight years and was elected county commissioner on the Republican ticket and manages a splendid farm. Personally he is a man of fine address and intelligence. Being thoroughly conversant with the county and its needs and a man of progressive ideas, he has made a valued public servant and enjoys the confidence and respect of all, in the city or the farm."
