"His early education was acquired in the public schools of the county and upon leaving school he went into the milling business at Rock Camp, and then took up farming in Perry Township. He served as treasurer of Perry Township for eight years and was elected county commissioner on the Republican ticket and manages a splendid farm. Personally he is a man of fine address and intelligence. Being thoroughly conversant with the county and its needs and a man of progressive ideas, he has made a valued public servant and enjoys the confidence and respect of all, in the city or the farm."
