The 1880 Federal Census for Maryland, Carroll Co., District 51, page 337B records Mary Beard (31-married, no husband in the household ... could it be John Frick who is head of this household?) with children John L. (8), Catherine (5), Mary E. (4), and Lewis (2). She is in the household of John (42) and Kate (40) Frick. Mary's parents are listed as from Bavaria and John Frick is born in Hesse Darmstadt. It is of interest that at the time of the census, Mary Beard is apparently expecting another child, William (see 1900 census). Next door to Mary is John K. Eck (69) and his son John H. Eck (30). They are born in Bavaria and Maryland respectively.

The 1900 Federal Census for Woolerys, Carroll Co., Maryland, District 124, page 101B records Mary Beard (Apr 1849-parents from Germany) with sons Lewis (Jan 1878) and William H. (July 1880). They are living next door to John (Feb 1837) and Catherine (May 1841) Frick. Ancestry.com has the family indexed as Board.

Mary Beard (60) is listed in the 1910 Federal Census for Carroll Co., Maryland (ED# 76 , 97B) living on Deer Park Road near East View. Also in the household are Howard H. Logue (38-widower, son-in-law to Mary Beard) and his children Viola B. (12), William R. (11), Sarah E. (9), and Eva C. (5).

The 1920 Federal Census for Woolerys, Carroll Co., Maryland, District 64, page 29A records the widow Mary Beard (70 - Maryland/Bavaria/Bavaria) as the head of a household with her grand children Eva C. Logue (14) and Lewis Beard (3 3/12).
