The 1930 Federal Census for Richmond, VA, Clay Ward, District 120, page 246, dated April 8, 1930 records Clyde V. (31 - VA/VA/VA) and Maude H. (28 - VA/VA/VA) March living at 2807A Floyd Avenue. Clyde is a Salesman for a Pickle Company.

Maude Ashburn Maude M. Ashburn SUFFOLK - Maude Holland March Ashburn, 107, a longtime resident of Hillcrest Retirement Center and most recently Virginia Beach Estates, passed away May 25, 2009, after a brief illness. A native of Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late Jethro Sumner and Lee Anne Holland. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clyde V. March and second husband, Thomas J. Ashburn. She attended Farmville State Teachers College (Longwood University), and subsequently pursued a lifetime career as an elementary teacher in public and private schools in Virginia and North Carolina. She lived most of her active adult life in Rocky Mount, N.C., where besides teaching, she served as a volunteer in various civic activities to include the USO during World War II, the American Red Cross, and as a founder and supporter of North Carolina Wesleyan College. At the time of her demise, she was the most senior member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Suffolk. Mrs. Ashburn is survived by her son, retired Lt. Col. Clyde V. March and wife Gail K. of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Clyde V. March III of New York City and Lynne Baptista and husband Armand of Alexandria, Va.; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Holland Cemetery, Suffolk, by the Rev. Robert J. Parks. Special appreciation is extended to the nursing staffs of Virginia Beach Estates and Nansemond Pointe, Hospice, private assistants Phyliss Price and Barbara Hodges for their professional service, loving care, and comfort provided over her years of infirmity. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434 or charity of choice. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W.
