Wortham, and they are now "sojourning" at Cavalla, Greece and wil be traveling to Greece, Serbia, Turkey, and Bulgaria. Richard is a Tobacco Buyer. Ricahrd has a passport photo and is named as Vice President of Alston Tobacco Company, Inc.

Richard continues to travel abroad and has passport applications through Dec 16, 1922.


The 1930 Federal Census for Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., North Carolina, District 34, page 254A, dated April 7, 1930 records Richard (45 - NC/NC/NC) and Naomi (34 - Ohio/Ohio/Ohio) Wortham and children Richard (13 - VA) and Betty Ann (2 - Switzerland) living at 714 Oakland Avenue. They own their home valued at $30,000. Richard is a Buyer of Turkisk Tobacco and has been married for 15 years.

Obitaury for Richard J. Wortham
Richard J. Wortham, a wholesale tobacco Merchant died suddenly of heart disease yesterday at his home, 20 Argyle Place, Bronxville, at the age of fifty-two.
Mr. Wortham had offices at 103 Park Avenue, New York City. A native of Henderson, N. C., he had resided in Bronxville for a year and a half.
Surviving are his wife, the former Naomi Lousie Kehl, a member of the American Diplomatic Service for many years; a daughter, Betty Ann Wortham of Bronxville, and two brothers Willis L. of Jersey City, and Alexander S. Wortham of Ashville, N. C.
Funeral services will be held Saturady at 11 A. M. in Trinity Church, Ashville. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery there.

Richard married Naomi Louise Kehl, daughter of John Elwin Kehl and Corinne Bayer, circa 1915. (Naomi Louise Kehl was born on 2 Jul 1895 in Cincinnati, Ohio, died on 14 May 1971 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC and was buried on 15 May 1971 in Riverside Cemetery, Asheville, Buncombe Co., North Carolina.) The cause of her death was Cardiac Arrest - Heart Disease.
