Note: The 1920 and 1930 census records for Southampton Co., VA record Elma Brooks as (13) and (23) respectively living with her parents James and Vassie Brooks and siblings. Thus in 1940 she would be 33 not 28 and her DOB recorded here will reflect that. Also ... Elma's 1969 marriage licese records her DOB as 4 Nov 1906 in Newsoms, VA as well as the names of her parents.
