Obituary for William Allen Garrett, Sr.
William Allen Garrett, Sr., 87, of 1700 Garrett Road, passed away Monday evening, August 24, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County in Martinsville, VA. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 27, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Garrett Family Cemetery. Mr. Garrett was born April 8, 1922 in Rockingham County, son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mary Jones Garrett. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Garrett attended Pleasant View Baptist Church, He is survived by his wife, Frances Wood Garrett of the home; daughter, Carolyn G. Bolick and husband, Danny; sons, William "Al" Allen Garrett, Jr. and wife, Sherie, Larry Garrett and wife, Rosemary, Randy Garrett and wife, Cathy, Michael Garrett and wife, Sherry, Chad Garrett, and Tim Garrett and wife, Gwen, all of Eden; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home [432 Boone Road, Eden, NC 27288] and other times at the home of his daughter, 320 Pervie Bolick Street, in Eden.
