The 1850 Federal Census for Mecklenburg Co., Va. records Jeremiah (32) and Lucy (23) Harden with children John (4) and Oriana (2).

He married LUCY ANN ROYSTER December 19, 1844 in Clarksville, VA by Rev. T. G. Lake26. She was the daughter of CLARK ROYSTER and LUCY APPERSON and was born May 25, 1827 in Mecklenburg Co, VA. and died March 14, 1858 in Mecklenburg Co, VA. After his first wife died in 1858, he returned to Graham and sent his 4 children to live with friends and relatives. Son John with father John, Oranian with brother Peter, Daughter Mary with
William Redding and son William with brother John. All in Graham. Jeremiah married MARY E. MCDANIEL on October 8, 1868 in Graham, NC. She was born 1824.

In 1870 he is living in Graham, NC with second wife and son William. The location of his grave is unknown but he wasburied in 1871 in Providence Mem Cem, Graham, NC. His occupation was a Merchant.

LUCY ANN ROYSTER was buried in 1858 in Providence Mem Cem, Graham, NC

MARY E MCDANIEL owned the Union Hotel.
