Research Notes:
In an email from Harmony Hasselhoff dated January 8, 2010: ... I would like to know more about Cora Mae Adkins. She was my great grandmother's mother. She was supposedly born out of wedlock and was quite a skeleton in the closet. I think that Alice Keen Adkins was her aunt and this woman Alice died in what used to be my Grandmothers house in Danville. My sister has Alice's bible. Would you mind if I sent you some photos? Maybe you could id some folks we could not. My grandmother is still living but doesn't really know anything about it. She said that her family's cemetery was in Callands and that she was sure the land had been sold years ago. I promise it won't take me four months to respond next time. The photo I attached is Cora Mae as the mother and I think the older lady is Eleanor 'Mige' Adkins, my great grandmother is the little girl in the middle Hattie Mae Kendrick. The man pictured is Lemon Kendrick whom I have a number of photos of. I know for certain who everyone in the photo is except the older woman. Thanks, Harmony
Cora married James Lemon Kendrick, son of William Rigney and Melissa Ann (Shug) Kendrick, on 12 Dec 1901 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. (James Lemon Kendrick was born on 2 Jan 1881 in Pittsylvania Co., VA and died on 28 Dec 1918.)
