The 1850 U.S. Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., Pennsylvania, page 407B, dated Oct 9, 1850 records William Brown (21) living with his parents Jacob (55) and Mary (52) Brown and siblings Mary (16), Christian (15), John (15), and James (11). William is a Mason while Jacob is a farmer with real estate valued at $500.

The 1860 Federal Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., Pennsylvania records John Goudy living in the home of William (29) and Nancy J. (25) Brown. This is John Goudy's sister, Nancy Jane Goudy, and her husband, William Brown. William and Nancy Jane have children John R. (6), Catherine S. (2), and Jacob (1).

The 1870 Federal Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., Pennsylvania, records William G. (50) and Nancy J. (50) Brown with children John R. (16), Catherine (12), Jacob (10), Anna M. (52) and Nancy Jane (44) Brown with children Jacob H. (19), Elvirda (16), William B. (13), Sam'l J. (10), James H. (6), Christian C. (6), and Ocola (3). The father, William, is listed as a Stone Mason and son Jacob as an apprentice Mason.

The 1900 Federal Census for Camp Hill, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, page 141A, dated June 1, 1900 records the widower William G. Brown (Feb 1828 - PA/PA/PA) living with his son Jacob H. Brown (June 1860) and his wife Lydia (Feb 1860 - PA/PA/PA) and their children Wm E. (Sept 1881), Estella (Feb 1885), and Margaretta (Oct 1889). Jacob and Lydia have been married for 20 years and have had 5 children of whom 3 are still living. Both William and Jacob are stone masons while the son William is an apprentice stone mason. Estella is an edge sticher at the shoe factory.
