Laban Slack

  General Notes:

Laban Slack enlisted as a Private in Company F, 2nd Battn Regiment North Carolina on 19 August 1864. He was a POW on 19 September 1864 at Winchester, VA where he was wounded. He was hospitalized on 19 October 1864 at Baltimore, MD (For wounds) and transferred on 25 October 1864 at Point Lookout, MD (Or the 26th and paroled). Soon he was transferred on 30 October 1864 at Venus Point, GA (For exchange). He was reported Absent, without leave, on 30 January 1865 (Estimated day)


The 1880 Federal Census for Union Township, Randolph Co., N.C., District 224, page 197B records Laban (46) and Elizabeth (30) Slack with children Flora (14), William (8), Thomas (6), Osburn (4), and Matilda (2). Also in the household are Laban's parents, Henry (83) and Sarah (73) Slack.
