The 1880 Federal Census, Virginia, Nottoway Co., records Fernando L. Overton (10) living with his parents Alphius B. (48) and Mary L. (41) Overton. Also in the home are brothers Walter H. (16), Sylvester (13), and Alphius W. (6). The head of the household is Alphius Bolling (43, an editor). Another member of the household is John T. Clark (43-printer). In addition, Daniel (79) and Elizabeth (75) Bradshaw are living there and listed as father and mother-in-law. These are probably Mary L. Overton's parents.
Alpheus B. (28) and Mary T. (20) Overton can be found in the 1860 Federal Census, Virginia, Nottoway Co., Burkeville Post Office living next door to his parents, Benjamin (56) and Elizabeth T. (56) Overton.
It should be noted that both families are found living near each other in the 1850 Federal Census for Nottoway Co., Va. Daniel (49) and Elizabeth (44) Bradshaw with children Aliflorida (16), Richard B. (16), James A. (14), Mary L. (11), Robert M. (10), Lucy J. (8), Indiana M. (6), and Joseph D. (3) on page 377. Daniel, Elizabeth, Aliflorida, and Richard are born in Price Edward while all other Bradshaw family members are born in Nottoway Co. Benjamin (45) and Elizabeth (45) Overton with children Alpeus B. (19), James T. (17), John W. (15), Benjamin C. (13), and Mary J. (10) on page 382. Elizabeth is recorded as born in Price Edward Co. while all other Overton family members are born in Nottoway Co.
