Mrs. Godfrey, a native of Nansemond County, Va., was the daughter of Jasper and Susie Daughtrey and the widow of N.B. Godfrey Jr. She attended Longwood College, and then taught school in Essex County and Princess Anne County prior to her marriage. She was a longtime member of Scott Memorial United Methodist Church and the Great Neck Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Godfrey Ray of Norfolk; a granddaughter, Alicia Godfrey Ray of Virginia Beach; a grandson, John Matthew Ray of Radford, Va.;
