(Jan 1870 - VA/VA/VA) and Lula (May 1875 - VA/VA/VA) Johnson with their children Henry D. (Oct 1897) and Frank (Nov 1899). Next door are John's parents, William H. (June 1826 - VA/VA/VA) and Mary (March 1832 - VA/VA/VA) Johnson and their daughter, Mary N. Johnson (Feb 1864). John and Lula have been married for 4 years and have had 3 children of whom 2 are still living while William and Mary have been married for 48 years and have had 8 children of whom 6 are still living. Both are farming families.

The 1910 U.S. Census for Longbranch, Franklin Co.,Virginia, District 41, page 163B, dated May 10, 1910 records John C. (38 - VA/VA/VA) and Cora L. (35 - VA/VA/VA) Johnson with their children Henry D. (9), Annie E. (8), Roosevelt W. (6), Paul (4), Samuel A. (2), and Benjamin N. (11/12). Near by are John's parents, William H. (82 - VA/VA/VA) and Mary J. (77 - VA/VA/VA) Johnson and their grandson, Dalton H. Johnson (12). John and Cora have been married for 15 years and have had 9 children of whom 7 are still living while William and Mary have been married for 54 years and numbers of children are not listed. Both are farming families.

The 1920 U.S. Census for Blackwater, Franklin Co.,Virginia, District 46, page 19B/20A, dated January 14, 1920 records the widow Cora L. Johnson (45 - VA/VA/VA) with her children Ruth (18), Annie E. (16), Paul (12), Benjamin H. (10), and Mary C. (8). Next door is Henry D. Johnson (22) and his wife Mary C. (27) ... see above 1910 census with grandson Dalton H. Johnson.

John married Cora Lula Meador, daughter of John Sparrel Meador and Sarah E. Fralin, on 7 Mar 1895. (Cora Lula Meador was born on 18 Jan 1875 in Franklin Co., VA and died on 15 Oct 1966 in Martinsville, Henry Co, Virginia.)
