The 1850 Federal Census for Florid, Putnum Co., Illinois, page 342B, dated October 30, 1850 records John Henry Allen (20 - PA) and his wife Rosanna Allen (15 - PA). John Henry is a Cooper.

The 1860 Federal Census for Hennepin Township, Putnum Co., Illinois, Florid P. O., page 469, dated June 13, 1860 records John Allen (30 - PA) and his wife Rosanna Allen (24 - PA) and children Sidney H. Allen (8 - IL), Sarah E. Allen (6 - IL), Joseph E. Allen (5 - IL), David B. Allen (3 - IL), Albert Allen (7/12 - IL), and Alice Allen (7/12 - IL). John is a Farmer.

Interesting to note that after the death of Roseannah, John did not keep his children together:

Sydney Allen - The 1870 Federal Census for Magnolia, Putnum Co., Illinois, Hennepin P. O., page 172A, dated August 1, 1870 records Sydney Allen (18 - IL) living with James (50 - PA) and Rosanah (53 - PA) Allen and their children Owen W. (19 - IL), Esther Ellen (17), and Cora E. (13 - IL).
Albert Allen - The 1870 Federal Census for Granville, Putnum Co., Illinois, Granville P. O., page 134A, dated July 20, 1870 records Albert Allen (10 - IL) living with Joseph (51 - PA) and Mary (43 - PA) Marlcott. Also in the household are Melvin W. Whitmore (18 - IL), Madora Whitmore (15 - IL), and William Marlcott (14 - IL).
Alice Allen - The 1870 Federal Census for Hennepin, Putnum Co., Illinois, Florid P. O., page 152A, dated June 14, 1870 records Alice Allen (10 - IL) living with Benjamin (48 - PA) and Abigail (45 - Indiana) Yarger. Also in the household are Lucinda Bole (26 - IL), Simon Hetrick (45 - PA), and James Patterson (30 - OH).


Not sure what gives with ole John Henry Allen in that by 1880 he has remarried but his youngest son, Harvey, is now living with another family:

John H. Allen: The 1880 Federal Census for Hennepin, Putnum Co., Illinois, District 231, page 278B, dated June 10, 1880 records John H. Allen (52 - PA/PA/PA) with his wife Mary Allen (42 - PA/PA/PA) and children Charles E. Allen (8 - IL), Carrie M. Allen (4 - IL), and Baby Allen (8/12 [Oct] - IL). Also in the household is Joseph Allen (59 - PA/PA/PA).

Rosannah married John Henry Allen on 13 Oct 1849 in Florid, Putnam Co., Illinois. (John Henry Allen was born circa 1829 in Pennsylvania and died on 19 Feb 1882 in Florid, Putnam Co., Illinois.)
