The 1880 Federal Census for Cyress District, Nansemond Co., VA, District 53, page 68B, dated July 8, 1880 records Elkanah (38 - VA/VA/VA) and Louisana (39 - VA/VA/VA) and children John W. (9), Hattie V. (7), Jesse E. (6), Lizzie E. (4), Chumie E. (2), and Eva May (4/12).

The 1900 Federal Census for Cyress District, Nansemond Co., VA, District 24, page 55A, dated June 13, 1900 records Elkana (Oct 1844 - VA/VA/VA) and Louisana (Dec 1843 - VA/VA/VA) and children Hattie (Nov 1875), Jesse (Jan 1877), Lizzie (March 1878), Chanie E. (Feb 1879), and Eva May (April 1882). Elkana and Louisana have been married for 30 years and have had 7 children of whom 6 are still living.
