Col Francis Marion Green

Francis Marion Green (born November 7, 1823), was a native of Fauquier County, Virginia. He moved to Mississippi and worked as an attorney and plantation owner, who raised a CSA company known as the Lamar Rifles in LaFayette County, Mississippi. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House on May 12, 1864, while he was acting as Colonel of his regiment. He died on May 15 and was buried in Sharon Cemetery, Middleburg, Virginia.
Francis Marion Green was married to Susan Edmondson Webb, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Pulliam Webb.

The 1860 Federal Census for Lafayette Co., Mississippi, Paris P. O., page 207, dated Oct 23, 1860 records Francis Green (36 - VA) with his wife Susan Green (26 - NC) and son John Green (1 - Mississippi). Francis is a Lawyer with real estate valued at $6,000 and a personal estate valued at $6,00 including 8 slaves [listed under F. M. Green in Oxford].

Francis married Susan Edmonson Webb, daughter of William Webb and Elizabeth Pulliam, on 6 Apr 1858 in Layfayette Co., Mississippi. (Susan Edmonson Webb was born on 3 Aug 1833 in North Carolina, died on 18 Mar 1913 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois and was buried in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.)
