NEWPORT NEWS \emdash Lloyd Fleming Buck, the son of Rosa [B. Denzler] and Aubrey [F.] Buck, and husband of June Buck, passed away April 5, 2006, at the age of 94.
He led an extremely interesting and fruitful life. Lloyd was First Sergeant Regular Army Transportation Corps. He participated in two tours during World War II in "Patton's Army," as he termed it.
After the Army, he owned many Peninsula establishments to include Buck's College Inn, Buck's Brand, and The Carriage Inn restaurant. The Carriage Inn was known as the premier dining establishment in our area. Also, Lloyd owned the first television sales business on the Peninsula.
Lloyd received the Presidential Achievement Award, in 1987, and a Certificate of Commendation from The National Museum of the U.S. Army in 2004. Being a founding member of the Quarterback Club, Lloyd was especially passionate about The College of William & Mary football program.
Lloyd will be missed greatly by his daughter, Missy Martinovich, son, Jay R. Buck, friend, Virginia Liverman, and grandson, Cole.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, with the burial following at Peninsula Memorial Park.
