Posey L. Hurd can be found in census records for Henry Co., Va. through the 1920 census. His WWI draft registration card is also available and describes his appearance as tall and slender with blue eyes and light hair.

Ruth H. Smith
Ruth Hurd Smith, 92, Martinsville, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Beverly Health Care in Martinsville where she was a resident.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1913, in Henry County, to Posey Lester Hurd and Nettie Violet Coleman Hurd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Gayle Smith, in 1973, and four brothers, David F. Hurd Sr., Ben C. Hurd, Lester Hurd and Raymond Hurd.
She was retired from Bassett-Walking Knitting Company after more than 50 years of employment. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martinsville.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Services.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville with Pastor Ron Mateer officiating.

Posey married Nettie Violet Coleman circa 1905 in Martinsville, Henry Co., VA. (Nettie Violet Coleman was born in Dec 1880 in Virginia and died after 1942 in Martinsville, Henry Co, Virginia.)
