I have been looking for the Gairns Clan information as my Grandmother was Sarah Gairns (born Jan 1, 1882) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa who was married to William Benjamin Smith of New Elgin, Scotland. My Father was Andrew Gairns Smith as was my Brother (Jr.)
I believe that the Gairns family imigrated from Scotland via Nova Scotia but can not confirm.
On the Smith side of my family we are decendentgs from the ancient black clan of Gow.
Any information on the Gairns Clan family is helpful.
