Dorothy S. Whitehurst NORFOLK - Dorothy Stewart Whitehurst, 82, passed away May 23, 2010. She was born March 26, 1928 to the late Leigh and Louise Stewart in Norfolk. She was a 1946 graduate of Maury High School. Mrs. Whitehurst was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd W. Whitehurst Sr.; and sisters, Willie Doughtie and Edith Ryan. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Yvonne Vlattas and husband Leo of New Port Richey, Fla.; son, Floyd E. Whitehurst Jr. and wife Cindy of Suffolk; brothers, Leigh Stewart and wife Gwen and Herbert Stewart and wife Kay; sister, Gene Massengill Powell and husband David; five grandchildren, Bryan, Joshua, Stephanie, Stacey and Daniel; and great-grandson, Peyton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. May 26 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. May 27 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
