In the book A History of Berrien and Van Buren Counties, Michigan, a Truman Stratton's father, Truman Stratton (a native of West Fairlee, Vermont), immigrated to Hartford, Van Buren Co., Michigan in 1858.

Truman married Nellie A. Hunt, daughter of John A. Hunt and Lucy Ann Whitcomb. (Nellie A. Hunt was born in Jul 1864 in Van Buren Co., Michigan and died after 1930 in Hartford, Van Buren Co., Michigan.)
