The 1880 Federal Census for Florence, Saint Joseph, Michigan , District 193 records Jacob (1831-Michigan/Germany/Germany) and Mary (1847-NY/Germany/Germany) Dumser with children John G. (1871-NY/Germany/NY), Catherine (1876-NY/Germany/NY), and Emma E. (1879-Michigan/NY/Germany/NY).

The 1900 Federal Census for Michigan, Berrien Co., Hagar Township, District 65, page 308B records Jacob Dumpsey (indexed as Dumbsey) [Dumser] (March 1831-France/France/Germany) and wife Mary B. (Nov 1847-NY/France/Germany) with sons John G. (Sept 1872-NY/France/NY) and George (Sept 1881-Michigan/France/NY) and daughter Mary M. (January 1886-Michigan/France/NY). Next door is daughter Emma E. Jacob and Mary have been married 33 years with 8 children of which 4 are still living.
