The 1940 Federal Census for Bridgeton, Stowe Creek Township, Cumberland Co., New Jersey, District 6-70, page 881A, dated April 18, 1940 records Klass Akerboom (49 - Holland) with his wife Zelda (44 - PA) and children Gladys (13) and Jack (12) living on State Highway Route 49. Both Klass and Zelda have completed 4 years of high school and they own their home valued at $5,000. Klass is working as a Nurseryman / Farmer and earned $3,600 during the last 52 weeks. Also in the household is Zelda's cousin, Edward Banks (51 - PA). [Actually, even though the census indicates Edward as a cousin, it appears that this is Zelda's uncle.]
