(19), Elizabeth (16), Sarah A. (5), James M. D. (21), Leonard W. (18), John J. (14), Benjamin V. (11), George F. (7), and Samuel F. (3).

The 1860 Federal Census for North Carolina, Madison Co., records Jobe Peek (19) (indexed as Beck at ancestry.com) living in the household of his mother Anny Peek (50-NC) with other children Leonard W. (27), Jackson (24), Benjamin (21), George (17), Sarah (15), and Samuel (13).

Job B. Peek enlisted as a Private on July 4, 1861 in Company H, 2nd Battalion Regiment North Carolina. He became a POW on February 8, 1862 at Roanoke Island, NC and was paroled onFebruary 21, 1862 at Elizabeth City, NC. He was on rolls as of February 28, 1862, however, there is no further record. The following brothers of Jobe served the confederacy:
James M. Peek - Enlisted as a Private in Company C, 7th Battn Cavalry Regiment North Carolinaon July 8, 1862 at the age of 33. On August 3, 1863 he transferred to Company C, 7th Battn Cavalry Regiment North Carolina. On August 3, 1863 he transfered to 6th Cavalry Regiment North Carolina.

Leonard W. Peek - Enlisted as a Private in Company B, 16th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on April 29, 1861 at the age of 26.

Benjamin V. Peek - Enlisted in Company A, 5th Battn Cavalry Regiment North Carolina on May 14, 1862. He was promoted to Full 3rd Lieut on September 15, 1862 and transferred to Company A, 5th Battn Cavalry Regiment North Carolina on September 15, 1862. He then transfered to Company G, 64th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on September 15, 1862.

John J. Peek - Enlisted in Company A, 5th Battn Cavalry Regiment North Carolina on May 31, 1862. He is on rolls on June 15, 1862 at Marshall, NC (No further record).


The 1870 Federal Census for North Carolina, Madison Co., Township 3, Raysville P.O., records Job B. (28-NC) and Mary L. (22-NC) Peek with children Van Evried (3-M/NC) and Paoli (1-M/NC).

The 1880 Federal Census for North Carolina, Madison Co., Township 5, West Fork of Ivy, District 127, records Jobe B. (38-NC) and Polly A. (32-NC) Peek with children Evired D. (13-M/NC), William P. (10-M/NC), Media (9-F), Brejetta (6), Annie (2), infany not named (0/12).
