The North Carolina Death Index records the death of Mrs. Lela Eaker Whisnant on Oct 14, 1937. Her father is listed as Jeff Eaker. I can find no record of a "Jeff or Jefferson" Eaker, however, there is a Jesse Eaker and Andrew Eaker the right age living nearby David Whisnant in 1880 and would be likely candidates.

Lela married David Barrett Whisnant, son of Albert Whisnant and Elizabeth, in 1899 in Cleveland Co., NC. (David Barrett Whisnant was born on 15 Mar 1877 in Cleveland Co., NC, died on 20 Feb 1966 in Cleveland Co., NC and was buried in Polkville Methodist Church Cemetery, Cleveland Co., NC.)
