The 1900 Federal Census for Virginia, Rockbridge Co., Natural Bridge, District 100 records James H. Link (August 1897) (indexed as Lintz at ancestry.com) as a grandson in the home of the widow Julia Link (January 1838). Julia's son, Obie Link (April 1872), and daughter-in-law, Annie J. Link (Dec 1878) are living there with their children James and Edie A. (July 1899).
It is of interest that the 1880 Federal Census for Natural Bridge, Rockbridge Co., VA records Phillip H. (54) and Julia S. (52) Link with children Bertnor P. (9), Obadiah (6), and Nineveh (4) Link. Also in the household is step son George Burrows (21). Upon researching the family in 1870 it becomes apparent that Julia is born ca 1838 and was married first to an Amos Burrough. The following census records indicate the facts:
The 1870 Federal Census for Natural Bridge, Rockbridge Co., VA records P. H. (37) and Julia S. (32) Link with children George S. Link (10) [Burroughs] and Philip B. Link (1).
The 1860 Federal Census for Botetourt Co., VA records Amos (27) (indexed as Ames at ancestry.com) and Julia S. (20) Burroughs with son George (1).

The WWI Draft Registraion Card for James Hileman Link dated Aug. 24, 1918 records his date of birth as August 1, 1897 in Rockbridge Co., VA. He is married to Mrs. Eva Link and living in Glasgow, VA. He is tall with medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. He indicates that he has weak ankles.
James married Eva Creamer, daughter of Clarence Howard Creamer and Ada, circa 1918 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia. (Eva Creamer was born on 18 Nov 1902 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia and died in Aug 1986 in Buchanan, Botetourt Co., Virginia.)
