The 1850 Federal Census for Harrison Co., Texas records S. Terry (28 - AL) with his wife A. Terry (25 - AL) and children D. Terry (7 - TX), L. Terry (5 - TX), and L. Terry (3 - TX). The family is near by the William S. Hill family. STephen will marry William's daughter Harriet after the death of his wife.

Stephen married Harriet L. Hill, daughter of William Spaulding Hill Sr. and Catherine Seegram, on 18 Jan 1854 in Harrison Co., Texas. (Harriet L. Hill was born circa 1830 in South Carolina and died after 1860 in Powellton, Harrison Co., Texas.)
