ROWENA SAVAGE CAMP RAWLS Franklin - A funeral service for Mrs. Rena Camp Rawls will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Franklin Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Rawls, 89, of 806 N. Clay Street, died Wednesday in her home, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Sol W. Rawls and the daughter of the late James L. Camp and Carrie Savage Camp. Mrs. Rawls was a native and life-long resident of Franklin. She was educated at Franklin Female Seminary, a private school of that day in her native town. She was a graduate of Meredith College, Raleigh, N.C. and a post-graduate student of music. She was an accomplished pianist and leader in the Franklin Music Study Club. She was also a member of the Franklin Garden Club. She was an active Baptist and a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Her generosity and that of her family contributed greatly to the development of that church and to its prominence in missionary endeavors. She was married in 1916 and is survived by a son, Sol W. Rawls, Jr., of Franklin; one sister, Mrs. W. Eldridge Smith*, Franklin; one brother, James L. Camp Jr., Franklin and four grandchildren, Mrs. David H. Adams and Mrs. Peter A. Agelasto III, both of Virginia Beach; Sol Waite Rawls III, New York City and Miss Patricia Rawls, Norfolk. The family suggests either flowers of a contribution to the Southampton Memorial Hospital endowment fund, Franklin. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
