The 1870 Federal Census for Virginia, Southampton Co., Franklin Depot records Carrie Cobb (2) in the home of her widowed father H. V. Cobb (38) and siblings Cora (9), Richard (7), and Annie (5). Also in the household is Martha Cobb (30).

The 1860 Federal Census for Virginia, Southampton Co., East Side of the Nottoway River reocrds H. V. Cobb (28) with wife F. Cobb (20) and daughter M. S. Cobb (10/12). H. V. Cobb is probably Henry Cobb in that the 1850 Federal Census for Virginia, Southampton Co., Nottoway Parish records Henry Cobb (18) with his sister Martha (12) with their parents Jethro (44) and Martha (34) Cobb and siblings Albert (16), Emeline (16), Louisa (10), Edward (7), James B. (5), and Ann M. (2). J. (53) and M. (49) Cobb are also listed in the 1860 Southampton Co. Census a few pages over from H. V. Cobb. The listing includes: J. (53) and M. (49) Cobb with children E. (22), M. (20), L. (17), E. (15), R. (12), and W. (7). Jethro continues to appear in the 1870 and 1880 Southampton Co. Census. In 1870 Jethro (64) is head of the household with Patsey Cobb (54) and Louisa (28), R. J. (23), and William (19) Cobb. In 1880 he is a 74 year old a widower living with his sister Susan (65).
